4 K'at

Seeing through the eyes of non judgment

The most basic understanding is born and is to be helpful. Supporting oneself and supporting each other starts by opening up to understanding. Since we received support since we were born, we have a hard time sometimes coming back to this point in our consciousness where we perceive the world without judging it and where we are fully available to support and participate in the world that is there. We cannot create a house, a family and a life if we can't be supportive to it, regardless of what it is. It's until we achieve a certain knowledge, until we think we know something, that we begin judging. In a hostile world this may seem like a naive attitude, and as for the dimension we are invited to explore today, we are safe and plentiful, tomorrow we will enter into that more hostile world that requires us to chase and hunt. In this dimension, we are provisioned for, and so we are supportive to that, grateful, thankful to what we receive, without emitting judgment to what it is and who it is.

When we enter a world of magic, even in Toltec training, we are taught to loosen our prompt to judge and leave experiences out. Turns out that in order to receive and reach a point in our own will (our manifestation) we must allow that manifestation to come, and it normally comes through what the modern Toltecs call the allies: persons or situations that apparently are very negative and undesirable at first, but magically appear in our lives. For sure some tiktok guru is out there telling you to be better than that and not get involved or trapped by that negative situation. Or simply we (think we) know better and avoid helping that bum on the street that shows up to ruin our proposal. It's hard to judge now and tell you what or what not to do. That knowledge must come from you. The only message here is to keep the openness, even to what you have judged as something that is not for you.

Form.

Record and remember well your first move and your first action, it is priceless. When it is a first, we don't know anything, we don't know how to do it, we don't know what the outcome will be, most probably this action will result in a mistake. Because of this in a modern educational paradigm, we go through extensive prepping, training, indoctrination, in order to supposedly act on informed and profitable endeavors. The problem with this doctrine is that we trained to fear experimentation and impulse, we approach life with this idea: "I don't know how to do it, so I don't."

Your first move certainly will not be the best, but it is the most valuable one. It's the one that you do from unknowing and it displays your true skill and your honest love. When you act from spirit instead of doubt, an irrepetible legacy is left, even if it's not the best move, even if it is somehow without form. The only way to achieve form, your own form, is to act from you inner intent and your own creative mind, not following patterns, not copying anyone, but being truly creative and feeding from this this first move, seeing the "mistake" not as something that must be erased, but rather something that must be displayed.

Caught.

In the sea of nothingness, whatever exists is a petty drop of somethingness that we like to minimize by comparing it to what surrounds it; we call it unfinished, imperfect, in continuous creation, and through that framing we feel free. Today, however, we are invited to turn around and cling upside down like a lizard on a wall—irreverent to gravity and to everything that is apparently so mysteriously true and present. In our perceived freedom, we are stimulated to experience life as a grand experiment where being ironic toward others' lack of judgment offers a liberating laugh at their shortsightedness. We feel armored against the shortcomings of others, weaving our originality out of comparison; we are told not to care about what others think of us—which, to a degree and within a certain frame, can hold true.

Yet today it takes shape that the smallness, the petty imperfection of this world, our humanity, and all our relatives caught in chaos form the very web we inhabit—a mesh from which we are not free in the slightest bit. What others think of us is, in fact, what we think of ourselves, because individuality is merely an illusion: we are all threads in the same fabric. Instead of tightening our thread in a frantic attempt to snap it and free ourselves, today's nawal invites us to loosen up and witness how that slack releases the knot within the entire textile. Even when others pull their threads tight, our choice to remain loose can exert the exact same liberating effect on the whole. Instead of injecting disbelief and animosity into others' rigid mindsets, we are called to understand that we cannot be isolated from their thoughts and actions; thus, we might as well embrace them and find a way to positively influence them rather than struggling to break free.

The form that crystallizes today is here to stay, and true freedom emerges from accepting the mesh around us and learning to navigate it like a spider, rather than flailing to break free like a trapped fly. Those who puff themselves up with self-importance and disguise themselves in the armor of being "too busy" are the flies in this net. They are the ones struggling, bouncing around, and acting trapped—because they are trapped by their own anxious reactions and their inability to accept reality as it is being intricately and tangledly woven. Do not repeat their mistake by trying to escape their chaotic jolts; walk straight toward them and inject them with your venom of love. They desperately need it.

The Net / The Web / The Bundle / Captivity & Gathering (K'at) represents the sacred net that gathers the harvest, the intricate web of life, the entanglements of human relationships, and the structures that pull scattered elements into a tangible form. It is the nawal of cosmic debt, karmic knots, abundance, storage, and the inescapable interconnectedness of all beings. In its fourth position (Kajib'), it provides the foundational stability, physical structure, boundary, and material realization that anchors the fluid, gestating pulse of the trecena—bringing abstract potential down into a solid, inescapable shape.

To embody Four K'at is to stop fighting the web and step into the authority of the weaver. It demands that we stop acting like helpless prey caught in the mesh of external circumstances and recognize that every knot in the fabric reflects an unreleased tension within ourselves. At this fourth station of the wave, K'at gives form to what was gestated in Imox, voiced in Ik', and tested in Ak'ab'al. It reminds us that maturity is not found in fleeing the collective web or hiding behind an armor of cynical detachment, but in learning to move skillfully along its threads—using slack, compassion, and radical love to dissolve the tightest knots in the shared human fabric.

RESEARCH

1. The Trecena of Sipactli (1 Sipactli / Ce Cipactli) and Its Patron Deity

The first trecena of the 260-day Tonalpohualli, Ce Sipactli (1 Crocodile), marks the opening threshold of cosmic genesis and primordial creation.

The Patron Deity: Tonacatecuhtli (and Tonacacihuatl)

This trecena is presided over by Tonacatecuhtli ("Lord of Our Sustenance / Flesh") and his divine counterpart Tonacacihuatl ("Lady of Our Sustenance"). Together, they represent the primordial creator couple dwelling in Omeyocan (the 13th Heaven, the place of ultimate duality).

  • Etimology & Esoteric Nature: Tonacatl translates to "flesh," "sustenance," or "our body/maize." Tonacatecuhtli is the force that breathes life, soul (tonalli), and physical form into human existence.

  • Cosmological Function in this Trecena: Because Sipactli represents the primal marine monster whose severed body formed the earth, Tonacatecuhtli acts as the divine orderer who transforms untamed, chaotic potential into organized, fertile ground. Under his patronages, the 1 Sipactli trecena carries an augury of raw creation, generative nourishment, and laying down the foundational matrix for an entire cycle.

2. Cuetzpallin (The Lizard): Sign Dynamics & Esoteric Nature

Cuetzpallin (pronounced Kwetz-pah-lleen) is the 4th day sign of the Tonalpohualli.

  • Physical Symbolism: The lizard represents rapid adaptation, agility, instinctual survival, and uninhibited exposure to the sun. It is a creature that can lose its tail in a crisis and regrow it—symbolizing remarkable resilience, physical regeneration, and non-linear escape from entrapment.

  • Elemental Energy: In contrast to the aquatic chaos of Sipactli or the invisible spirit of Ehecatl, Cuetzpallin represents the warm, grounding vitality of the earth baked by solar heat. It is associated with raw physical stamina, instinctual health, and living purely in the immediate present without overthinking.

  • Divinatory Meaning: In the codices, days under Cuetzpallin were viewed as favorable for physical labor, quick action, and athletic endurance, but dangerous for those who become overly reckless or indulge in unbridled excesses without foresight.

3. Huehuecoyotl: The Patron Deity of Cuetzpallin

Huehuecoyotl (pronounced Way-way-koh-yotl) translates directly to "The Very Old Coyote." He is one of the most intriguing, subversive, and multifaceted deities in the Mesoamerican pantheon.

Attributes & Iconography

  • The Trickster & Patron of the Arts: Huehuecoyotl is the god of music, dance, song, storytelling, mischief, unexpected fortune, and untamed eroticism.

  • Visual Identifiers (Codex Borgia, Plate 9): He is depicted as a humanoid figure wearing a coyote mask or possessing explicit coyote features (pointed ears, sharp jaw, animal pelt). He frequently wears the oyohualli (copper bells) and holds rattles or musical instruments, signaling celebration and rhythmic trance.

  • The Coyote Nature: The coyote in North/Central American indigenous lore is the ultimate boundary-crosser—clever, unpredictable, capable of tricking others, but occasionally falling victim to his own traps. He represents the wisdom that comes through trial, error, humor, and irreverence.

Theological & Esoteric Synthesis (Cuetzpallin + Huehuecoyotl)

When Cuetzpallin (the lizard's quick physical drive) merges with Huehuecoyotl (the coyote's trickster playfulness), a distinct spiritual dynamic emerges:

  1. Subversion of Rigid Gravity: Huehuecoyotl brings a necessary medicine to the heavy, serious work of creation: irony and comic relief. He reminds us that hyper-rationality and rigid solemnity trap humans in a sterile bubble.

  2. Instinctual Mastery over Dogma: While "experts" attempt to control reality with blueprints and rigid formulas, Huehuecoyotl and Cuetzpallin navigate life like a lizard on a wall or a coyote in the night—flexible, irreverent, and relying on pure instinct and improvisation to survive and thrive.

  3. The Sacredness of Play & Sexuality: Huehuecoyotl holds no puritanical shame. He represents the wild, generative pleasure of life that cannot be domesticated by civilized rules. He uses dance, rhythm, and desire to break through depression, rigid dogma, and stagnant energy
