Pleasant Distance
There is this part of us, and we might find ourselves stuck here quite a bit, where we need to simply have space apart from it all. We want to get away from so many things, and it is a good thing to do so, to end, go, and have silence. It's a silence from the others because in this space of apparent silence, is where we can finally hear ourselves, our thoughts and below that, the thoughts and messages from our ancestors and the spirit world that is constantly speaking to us. So we are never really alone. In fact if we want to feel less lonely, we need to be able to make this space and learn to hear in the silence, all the voices, all the spirits, all of our noisy thoughts. Not being able to distance ourselves from the noise is what in fact makes us anxious and lonely.
In Toltec training we practice making distance from your own thoughts and internal dialogue. You can shut it down for a few seconds, but you can't constantly suppress it. What you can do is to sit further away from it, get used to not identifying with it, with what it says. This can be weird, how can you ever not identify with what you yourself is thinking? Same goes for dreaming. Do we dare put ourselves in a truly empty mind? Many blessings and healings come when we find this sacred space, when we are able to distance ourselves from ourselves in a loving and controlled way (the other way would be loosing your soul, or walking away from your body, you don't want that).
Today allows us to be confortable with all of this and even seek it. It's a great example of how peace feels like.
