Jun I’x – Sea of Everythingness

After the intensity and abundance of the Jun Imox trecena, roles inverse and the tendency is to want to go quiet and ghost out. Like in any I’x day, the feeling is to not say much and I bet there is a feeling of not wanting to hear much either. Words, thoughts and spoken wisdom can be so small and intellectually limited in comparison to the vastness of silence and absence, of just feeling spirit instead of trying to write and speak about it. My inspiration truly is: drop it and let them learn from your silence.
My commitment with the readings however is way too great and even though I’x brings this wind of silence and into a dark cave, I hold a light of intent, lit by yesterday’s avatar, that wants to see in this cave and discover for all what is in there and what it is about. Whatever our feeling and reaction is to the entering into today’s energy—that rules the coming thirteen days—is a reflection of the relationship we have with our femininity, our feminine side and the vastness of the sea of everythingness we will be explaining about.
But a good start for you in this journey is knowing where on it you are. If you can recall anything about the reading for this same day, 260 days ago, which I titled “Feminine Shift” or not, can make a big difference, and which gets me started on speaking about relationships. If you don’t remember anything or are somewhat new to the I’x sign, then I invite you to visit that reading and have it first, so that this reading builds on it and not just replicate it with different words. Feminine Shift.
The patron gods of the Imox trecena in the Mexica version of the cholqij—the tonalpohualli—are Tonacatecuhtli and Tonacacihuatl, which are the male and female creators of our flesh. This is the “highest” god in the pantheon, if you want to see it that way, and it speaks clearly about mesoamerican (excuse the term) worldview where “god” is not a single genderless (or male) entity, but the duality of male and female, which cannot be further coagulated into any greater singularity. Within this model, there is no who came first or chronological hierarchy, the genders are not avatars to which a higher androginous being descended into, they are simply the essences from which everything else sprouts from.
These essences are the complimentary dual forces of all of creation and that embue with this character—masculine and feminine—everything we know. To compliment means to add, to help, to sum, and we must bring this down to our personal love relationships to understand and do something fundamental: decolonise the patriarchal-romantic archetype installed within us. This means that our partner, any partner, is there to add to our experience. The romantic archetype tells us that a partner should be our everything, and this is where this fallacy leads: the discussion of “you are not enough”.
Within the toxic exclusivity model, the other must be everything in order to be enough for the other partner, and this could be a good aspiration to strive for, but is never practical or even humanly possible. Complimentarity is made possible only when we decolonise expectations and live within the scripts of reality and nature instead of those narrated endlessly through the media of social engineering. In this very sense acts the feminine nawal that begins to rule over this trecena that starts today. Depending on where your feminine, magical side is, this energy will manifest as either something that adds, builds and enriches, or a great cast of negativity and darkness that we feel summoned to enter.
Let’s go there for a minute, we need to talk about it. The propositive, creative aspect of creation meets the negative, destructive side of the universe. In the sea of nothingness, something wants to be, and finds course to be just that. In the sea of everythingness, something, anything, already is, and so it cares less about being, being more or being all, it finds more interest in not being, if something. The man—like in yesterday’s avatar—feels he must build the creation and humbly goes at it, stands tall and gives all of his life to producing and contributing, providing and creating structure for others to inhabit. The woman then, like in today, is the missing piece of the man’s need, the only thing he cannot create and must be chosen for. Here the feminine holds all the power. Convincing women otherwise, has been a powerful piece of social engineering.
The woman here must not build on power, seek it, construct or gain it. She already has it. This is the inactive side of the cosmos, of infinity. The active side, creation, is growing and expanding into the inactive side. The inactive side needs not to be active, she knows the active side is growing into her, that she is the space he so much needs. Here there is no activity, no choosing, no growing, no creation no evolution. Only receptive vehicle, accepting, allowing what chooses to come and grow.
Bringing this down to human use, here are the magical keys for this trecena and for harnessing this nawal. For reading this, you will be in great debt, because it is given freely. Where others expand the value and sustainability of this mystery quest by not giving it out freely, this circle perils on sustaining itself because of its revolutionary nature. Regardless, this power is handed over as the commitment made to those who dare enter and stay in this circle. This advice will be of little use for men, apparently, masculine men at least, who know how to take an opportunity when it presents itself. For more feminine sided men and for many women, this advice may come quite revealing.
When you are a woman, in the feminine receptive side of the cosmos, you stand above in sight of everything that is at your reach. Literally, for pussy, you can get any man to do anything you want. The spell comes when this power makes it so it is you that wants to be chosen. We are all lost in this cave, because jaguars are at the top of the chain, no predator is choosing them as a meal. It seems more enchanting to stare at the enchanted forest of options knowing that you have access to everything, and starve to death, than to lose the enchantment of being unreachable and actually choose something. The taste of nothing is sublime, compared to gamy taste of any given choice.
Femininity will condemn you this way, to a life of great void, absence, pain and depression. Most of the time, we long for something that is out of reach, because let’s put it in the right words: our bitch egos are simply too far up into the clouds to even get anywhere here down on earth. This is the spell to break in this coming trecena, if we are to embody the quetzalcoatl-tezcatlipoca rivalry that governs it, where one finally beats the other. Either you get over your ego and actually learn to take opportunities and live the choices given to you, or stay in the dream state of not choosing and wanting to be chosen, waiting for a better day to come. The lesson may well be the second, where we choose to withdraw and not act, wait and quit, hide and sink into darkness and depression. Keep in mind that not choosing something, is still a choice.
The advice is not telling you what to choose, but just to illuminate the landscape we are walking into. The eternal spell of our own shadow. Nobody else is casting it but ourselves. We are the great dark evil wizards that keep us trapped in our princess castles, unable to fathom a little strength to step out of our extreme bitchyness. It is our own magic, our own karma, our own acts or lack of action, what pushes us into the states we must admit we wish we were not in. There is no successful person out there that has made it through this cave. That is a lie that makes billions, funded with your money and attention. At night, all cats are shady.
The Jaguar / The Earth Spirit / The High Priest & Priestess / The Feminine Magic (I’x) represents the sacred jaguar, the spirit of the earth, nocturnal vision, altars, mountain shrines, and the deep, receptive power of the feminine. It is the nawal of shamans, priests, sorcerers, earth sanctuaries, and the hidden magic that resides in nature’s quiet depths. In its first position (Jun), it initiates a new 13-day wave, establishing the primal intent, seed frequency, and fundamental tone for the entire trecena—inviting us into the dark, fertile cavern of the earth to face our true reflection.
To embody One I’x is to enter the jaguar sanctuary with open eyes and an unblinking heart. It demands that you step off the frantic wheel of external action, descend into the quiet cave of spirit, and examine how you wield your receptive power. At this first, initiating station of the trecena, I’x takes the momentum built from the sea of creation and anchors it directly into the dark, fertile soil of the earth altar. It reminds us that true magic does not shout from the mountaintops—it listens in the silence, breaks the spell of passive waiting, and claims its sacred place within the living temple of existence.

RESEARCH
1. The Day Sign: Ocelotl (Jaguar)
- Position: 14th Day Sign of the 260-day Tonalpohualli (corresponding to I’x / B’alam in the Maya Cholq’ij).
- Codex Borgia Location (Plate 12, Upper-Right): Located in the upper-right quadrant of Plate 12, continuing the counter-clockwise layout immediately following Acatl (Reed, lower-right).
- Iconography: Represented as the head or full profile of a jaguar with spotted yellow-and-black fur (ocelotl), exposed claws, rounded nocturnal ears, and sharp, predatory teeth.
- Sign Dynamics & Mechanics:
- The Night Sun (Yohuualtecuhtli): Ocelotl represents the sun when it dies at sunset, sinking under the horizon into the belly of the earth to travel through the underworld before morning.
- Nocturnal Perception & Stealth: It governs instinct, territorial silence, earth-depths, occult vision, and the raw power required to navigate absolute darkness without fear.
2. Patron Deity of the Sign: Tepeyollotl (Heart of the Mountain)
In the Codex Borgia (Plate 12), the patron deity presiding over the 14th sign, Ocelotl, is Tepeyollotl (“Heart of the Mountain”).
- Iconography in Plate 12:
- Depicted as an anthropomorphic jaguar deity or a warrior dressed in a spotted jaguar pelage.
- Associated with dark caverns, mountains, echoes, and seismic earth forces.
- Theological Role:
- Tepeyollotl is an avatar of Tezcatlipoca operating inside the earth.
- He is the voice of the mountain, the rumble of earthquakes, the darkness within caves, and the sacred night roar that tests warriors who venture into the deep wilderness.
3. Ruling Patron of the Trecena: 1 Ocelotl (Ce Ocelotl)
When Ocelotl initiates a 13-day trecena period (1 Ocelotl to 13 Miquiztli), the overarching governing deities shift to Quetzalcoatl (or in parallel traditions, Tezcatlipoca / Tlazolteotl). In the primary Tonalnamatl trecena sequence of the Borgia Group:
- Primary Trecena Patron: Quetzalcoatl (The Feathered Serpent / Lord of Wind and Spirit).
- Theological Dynamic of the Trecena:
- Light inside Darkness: Placing Quetzalcoatl (breath, light, culture, spirit) over the Ocelotl (jaguar/underworld) trecena creates a profound tension.
- Subterranean Alchemy: The Ce Ocelotl trecena forces high spiritual light and conscious breath down into the deep jaguar caves of earth, instinct, and raw material existence.
- The Test of the Underworld: It marks a phase where the spirit must walk through the dark caverns of the subterranean earth without losing its divine breath (Ehecatl).
