Freedom is our natural medium, yet we endlessly strive to search for laws that limit it. The laws of physics, time, space, and even the principles of quantum consciousness—described by both Hermeticism and ancestral wisdom—are merely pencil traces. They are far from the living web we think we need to cling to in order to feel safe and real.
Driven by this need, we continue exploring the structure of the universe: singing breath into it, listening to the ancestral tales remembered through mediums, honoring the voices of plants and mountains, and grounding ourselves in the living memory of our mother sea. Yet, super-imposed upon this organic connection is our colonized quest to dissect, categorize, and control. We seek to analyze every phenomenon just to be “freed” from belief, only to become imprisoned by the illusion of absolute understanding.
The laws of a harmonious human nature were once woven into our very existence, allowing space for diversity, exploration, and a deep reverence for the living planet. However, within this exploration, a turn occurred: some entered a dark cave and learned how to expand it until it swallowed the rest of humanity. As the cave engulfed us, the fabric of natural law was torn. In its place, we built a metallic cage with our own hands—just to feel safe, embraced, and protected within the darkness.
Today, at the opening of this new thirteen-day cycle, we are invited to step into the mouth of the cave, acknowledge this reality, and embrace the truth of where we stand. Will we choose to remain inside, composed and constrained by the artificial meshes of human control—its socioeconomic systems, institutionalized beliefs, and synthetic definitions of health? Or will we step out into the open, choosing the wild freedom of being held exclusively by natural law? Whatever we choose, the dynamic remains unescapable: we cannot avoid embracing either the darkness or the light we choose to see or ignore.
As the light of the rising sun creeps into the mouth of the cave, it pales the fire of illusion kept alive by those whose only power relies on keeping others blind. The structural foundations of modern society begin to look faint, exposing their dark origin: they were not created to serve genuine human goodness, but to generate a controlled form of conflict necessary to keep the cave intact.
Within the cave, this false light is perceived as safety. It is no wonder society looks up to it, respects it, and seeks its warmth. But true sunlight lies outside. Leaving is not a pleasant or easy process, yet as the light inevitably filters in, the longer you cling to the internal structures of the cave, the fainter your life force becomes.
Outside the cave, the sun shines brightly, but shadows exist as a necessary part of creation. The artificial light inside casts only faint shadows, disguising true darkness under the guise of comfort, pleasure, and the status quo. It teaches that darkness must be eradicated at all costs, and that artificial illumination can eliminate shadows entirely. Established religions and dogmatic spiritual practices are often caught in this exact mesh, designed to keep you pacified within the cave’s walls.
To step outside is to return to the natural world—to relearn how to live on Planet Earth. There, the sun is magnificent, but survival requires embracing the shadows cast by trees and natural structures that keep us cool and grounded. What we cannot see, understand, or describe does not cease to exist; rather, we rest within it and are sheltered by it.
Stepping into true darkness is the actual path out of the cave. Everything your conditioned mind has labeled as “evil” or “frightening” is often the very shadow that will become your shelter once you walk into the bright light of day. Meanwhile, inside the cave, the show will continue, filled with myths, distractions, and promises of salvation through artificial entitlement.
True transformation does not come by sitting and waiting, nor by dancing around the cave’s artificial fire. It does not come through empty spells or performative rituals, which only serve to position the mind—and often do so improperly. Once the mind is set right, vision expands to illuminate what was once too dark to see. The place you feared to enter becomes the only path forward.
Transformation and freedom require you to physically walk the path. Daring to look into your own darkness and finding grace within it—that is the only real home we can build, the only dream worth following, and the ultimate light of love.
1 Ak’ab’al (Jun Ak’ab’al) represents the sacred threshold where night meets day—the dawn, the realm of shadows, the deep womb of the subconscious, and the emergence of new light. It is the nawal of polarities, intuition, secret wisdom, and the courage to step out of the shadows of illusion into the clarity of a new day.
Ak’ab’al governs the transitional spaces: the dark room before the light is turned on, the quiet mystery of the night, and the spark of creation that breaks through stagnation. When unbalanced, its energy can manifest as confusion, attachment to illusion, fear of the unknown, or getting trapped in the dualistic traps of the mind.
Sitting in the first position (Number 1), Ak’ab’al carries the foundational, initiating frequency of the new trecena. Number 1 is the seed, the origin, the birth of a new direction, and the intent that sets the entire thirteen-day cycle in motion. It asks you to establish a clear foundation, step through the doorway of the unknown, and hold the vision for what is to come.
To embody 1 Ak’ab’al is to step willingly to the mouth of the cave and face the transition between the old illusion and the true dawn. This energy demands that you cease relying on artificial structures for security and instead find peace in the natural interplay of light and shadow. It asks you to stop fearing your internal darkness and recognize it as the fertile ground from which your true light emerges.
At the threshold of this new cycle, do not be seduced by the familiar warmth of the cave’s fire or the promises of synthetic comfort. Use the primordial force of 1 Ak’ab’al to align your mind, look into the spaces you have avoided, and take the first concrete steps toward genuine freedom. Trust the shift, honor both the shadow and the sun, and walk boldly out of the cave into the light of the new day.
