Today's nahual will help us understand the meaning and workings of sacred space. Not knowing how to create and enter sacred space will expose us to unfortunate events. Let's remember when we were little, were growing up and for the first time we embarked on a journey. It wasn't just any journey, we were physically travelling, but for us it was a spiritual journey since we were exploring the unknown and facing our fears. Our innate intelligence taught us to create a type of protection. It could be an object, an amulet, a walkman, a cap, a blanket, a prayer, a song.

Whatever it is you chose to protect yourself, it worked. Today as travelers of the paths of wisdom and truth, we must develop this skill, for it will be necessary. Not only for protection from tragedies, illness, and unexpected losses, but more importantly, from the subtle things, from our own mind, from our own misguided feelings, and even more importantly, from the words and feelings of others. No, they are not mean, or malintentioned, we just need to categorize and learn to retrieve our own sentient heart to a level where it's not taking things personally.

Today's nahual invites us to learn to perceive the many different levels in which energy works, and learn to place our attention and feelings in the right level. Expand our understanding, hear better, allow ourselves to change our perspective, be in the other's shoes, and from here listen. Retrieve to a place that is deeper so that you can hear without being hurt. Create your sacred space there by drawing a type of shell, layer, protection. We've naturally have done this but in the wrong way. Thick and hardened shells are no good, they don't allow us to hear and feel other's feelings. They make us insensitive, egotistical and blind. The other extreme is having no layers, no sacred spaces within, having nowhere to retrieve to.

These invisible layers and borders, these shells, if kept thin, are necessary structures for growing up. On top of them we build personality, and if these lines are thin and changeable, then we can have a maleable personality that adapts and more importantly continues to grow. The body might stop growing at some point, but our soul, our mind, our internal energy, can continue to eternally expand.
