Hang on to something.
Thrilling abyss we are coming into. In one side of creation, all structures, lines and differences are being erased. This is terrifying, we are all being mushed up into a clump of oneness... but wait isn't this what we always wanted? On the other side, each one of us has grown, or has been imposed, a thick (virtual/transparent) membrane that separates us, making us comfortable to keep our uniqueness, but at the same time being unable to share that uniqueness with others. In this side of creation, we can only access other people through established, foreign, prefabricated profiles, no uniqueness allowed.
We can feel each other, know our thoughts, we're hyperconnected, and because of time, not because of what is to become a prehistoric technology -the internet. At the same time we are so absent from each other, so busy... with business (slavery). So we feel extremely different, separated, burdened, with whatever... economic burdens, health burdens, psychological burdens, which one do you cling to?
Gurus have come to screw you completely. They've been telling you to learn to detach, create no attachment. That desire is a burden, that from releasing desire, you're released from suffering. That being able to not suffer, is the goal or definition of spirituality. And look where they have brought us, this shit world is the result from us following their advice.
It can be strongly argued that it's not that, it's how the messages have been interpreted. There's a truth to that, but let me tell you that there's a great variety of spirits, gods, who had in their time their gurus (or speakers) that left their messages and no one has shared them with you, because it's bad for business. Xochipilli was an entity that was represented by a young vibrant man who lived in ecstasy, with all kinds of flowers and mushrooms around him, many psychoactive. He was the master of creativity: art, dance, music, you name it, he nailed it. Included in that was pleasure, sexual pleasure. Quetzalcoatl on the other hand was a way different dude (apparently) who was more focused on being right and being good, cleansing humanity from what he considered things that weren't so nice. To achieve it he would resort to what the gurus taught you: letting go of pleasure, excitement, intense feelings and intense experiences, for your own good.
So what advice do we follow, who do we trust, what do we do? It doesn't matter now. We are being thrown into the blender of transform into a butterfly or die. The caterpillar has to re-arrange all structures in his body and transform them into something completely different, including the shell he will ditch to nest that transformation. Guess who was Xochipilli's consort... Xochiquetzal, a woman associated with beauty and butterflies (and a hole lot more).
I'm going to gift you something I'm reticent to share because of its "it's highly a secret" status. Why does this category exist? because some arcane things, when misunderstood, cause more damage than help. But hey we're in the blender. That secret is the blender. You will be hurting others and hurting yourself more than you would like. It's unavoidable. Every second we continue hooked on the screens and machines, the thousands more that get killed and hurt because of it. That's the long, indirect harm you'll be causing, and since you don't see that, it doesn't affect you. But additionally you will be harming in other more direct means other people close to you. All the structures must be broken and we all have to get way out of the way for this butterfly to come into fruition. Are you ready for that? If not, you are a good candidate to be the shell. Like the story of the creation of the fifth sun in Teotihuacan, they call the gods to throw themselves into the fire to become the new sun, and they all wuss out. Seeing this the leper shows and throws himself, and becomes the sun. Right after, one of the gods jumps right behind him out of jealousy, and becomes the moon. This means that the more you avoid the inevitable, the more you will be cast out. It's so stupid. The lazy man works twice. If you really don't want to be banged so hard, then jump first!
I'm not done with the gift. I'm trying to briefly explain and set the setting, so that we can go on with the story. The story is that in this transformation of humanity and the ages, we have no choice but allow the structures and boundaries that made us, be destroyed. There is a divine gift in this, and if you can harness it, if you are lucky to catch this message, then you are very fortunate. When otherwise our actions would cause a reprimandable effect and because of that we were diligent in keeping a proper order according to our structures, these laws have been loosened and the debt can be all but forgotten. There is no other way this is going to work. So for this day (sun...) make sure you grab on to something, something that gives you great joy and pleasure. Make sure it's not guilt nor pain, those are the two things that are abundant and that counterintuitively, they are not going to help you detect anything. Get attached to a person, a place, a pleasure, a mission or all of the above. Being "spiritual" in the sense of being "correct" is not going to save you.
2 Q'aniil is an easily remembered day combination because of the god ometochtli associated with drunkenness. This can be so strongly demeaned by other days, nawals, gods or positions in the circle of differences. But it's all just one and the same sacred. No one is, without the other, and the other is other, because he/she's different. Take a look at how we got here. A negativity trecena ended with a very bad (bad in the sense of relevant) death (trust me, more than I can share has died in my life). This death has been transformed into the rebirth of a new path, and the coming together to at least recognize ourselves in our uniqueness and our aliveness, where then, we will be wasted if we don't seek to connect to others and create a world. This brings us to becoming attached to whoever and whatever we can, and this is blessed by today with the medicine of: it's so valid.

One of the biggest secrets—in a rhetorical sense—of Toltec practice is that we are not one being, but a combination of two beings. It literally is hard—almost impossible—to embody this reality. One being composes what is assembled as our body, the other is our other being lying right behind it. One is male, the other female. This is difficult to describe fully with language and even more in the brevity of a daily reading. Knowing it though is crucial if we are to gather with ourselves, if we are to pursue this path of resurrecting within the right story.
Each one of us, of our two beings, is a sphere of light. As they project light, and they tend to stick close together, we are perceived as a single being (two lights combined, sitting very close to each other, look like a brighter single light). Though very close to each other, each one of the assemblage points is a single unique being with its personality and soul. Understanding this relationship and cultivating it is key to coming together into the right story.
While we ignore this, we project the longing of the other assemblage point that is not embodied onto our romantic ideal, mixed then with very hurtful programing of what love and relationships should be. The feeling of loneliness and all kinds of issues arise from being raised in a society that keeps this knowledge—like any true knowledge—secret and taboo. Each one of this beings, when perceived, as perception requires a point of view, casts a shadow, as the being is composed of light. Understanding the shadow is crucial. I hope to get the support one day to be able to organize the teaching about shadow work, again, it's not something I can fully develop or you can fully integrate on a daily reading.
But speaking about the shadow becomes today's nawal lesson, as it asks us to take this into our field of awareness to best develop the integration that will be taking place throughout the thirteen days of the deer trecena. If you read the past reading for this combination, you will learn about ometochtli and other factors I will not repeat here. Related to this is our shadow and our shadow work. Spirituality then as it is perceived by those who truly don't understand it— and bear me the troubles for not finding a better word to use—is thought of walking into a space where the shadow is surpassed and no longer exists. We imaginatively cast out the shadow from our existence. We become devotees of a dogmatic practice of purity, where we feel we are better because we have sacrificed pleasures and earthly experiences because we are now closer to the light, to the transcendent and to spirit.
But aren't we so lucky that we have this guidance here to invite us to think otherwise. What really is happening when this occurs, is that we are acting out of fear that was produced from the effects of operating as earth beings and not understanding the shadows that were casted by our light. By stepping into a space we call sacred where we dress in light robes and meditate under the pleasant sounds of crystal bowls and toxic incense we simply are avoiding the work of getting to know ourselves, the world we live in and the things we need to do to fix what is wrong. Spirituality should be then expanding oneself to have the sufficient power to become an agent of effective transformation of all of that which is truly wrong and that can truly be changed in this world. Hiding from the shadows and from the dark entities, fearing them, is not going to help.
Today's nawal invites us to grow up and dive into whatever we may consider dark. Darkness dissipates as soon as we cast light into it. Evil beings are nothing more than little kids waiting for you to see beyond their evil deeds and release them from judgment. Darkness is nothing more than the fear of us ourselves not being light enough to illuminate within it, understand what is happening, knowing what it is about and doing something about it. Not having the right relationship with ourselves and with our own darkness and shadows makes us powerless. Think of the typical person that when drunk turns into somebody else, normally a very unpleasant somebody else. This is a perfect example of someone who constantly ignores and denigrates his other being. Religious spirituality is a trap that then comes in and "rescues us" from this other us that lays in the shadow. Look at the world today and tell me this way of proceeding has taken us to a better place. Does the sun fear the void, cold and darkness of space?
