Campaign

Abundance takes meaning when we begin putting it to the service of others. Anahuac's civilizations flourished because they organized society in a way that it created a surplus of food and provisions and this surplus was used to feed and sustain an engineering class and to distribute food and resources so no one was without. Grains were stored and towns that participated were included in a food security program where, if they suffered droughts or lost harvest, they would receive from the stored surplus. It wasn't perfect, but was better than what we have today. No one went without anything, disease didn't exist.

Today invites us to open to wealth and abundance but reminds us that this energy becomes reciprocal if we put it to work for something greater than us. If you make the sign today of making this investment, of supporting something you believe in (and that hopefully is not the same ol' fake philanthropy), then you will be pleasing today's nahual and the circle of abundance will open for you.

Growing up

Today's reading, coming late, is about growing up. The storm trecena leaves abundant rain, unavoidably life grows, be it that ir rained blessings, or challenges, something from it is now growing. Depending on what stage in life you are in, the advice will be different. I find honest to share one for the stage I'm currently in, let's call it the "young middle age" and make it from 36 to 49. Around this stage and peculiarly towards the end of it, something unexpected begins to occur. Problems and situations rain on you, just part of life. Still young, strong and efficient, productivity is at its fullest, yet aging, wear and tear, start to show. The pile of work to do, situations to surmount, piles up, it doesn't get easier, it gets harder. Instead of crying, we are at an age of taking it, facing it and bravely pushing through. If that's not enough, on top of all that, another type of storm trecena rain starts falling: Shit and criticism. A badly tucked shirt because you left in a hurry, a more saggy eye because you stayed late working, is not of the liking of others. You look uglier and meaner; you are stronger and wiser, and less prone to being pushed around, nobody likes that. Instead of smiles and signs of respect, you get frowns and become a trigger for the anger of older, more repressed folk. It's just raining difficulty, and instead of drowning, it's making you grow.

This trecena may have brough you a rain of shit, and in general, sets the stage for this... stage in life. It's part of what is necessary, for growing up. Today may have crowned that for you, it definitely did for me.

¡Aloha!
